Prohibited Items

Tezly does not inspect, handle or take possession of any item. Deciding what is lawful to send and to carry is the responsibility of the Sender and the Carrier.

This list is not exhaustive. An item can be prohibited even if it does not appear here. If you are unsure whether an item is allowed, do not send it and do not carry it.

These items must never be sent or carried through Tezly, on any route, in any quantity.

Weapons and explosives Firearms, firearm parts, ammunition, air guns, replica or imitation weapons, knives intended as weapons, stun guns, pepper spray, explosives, detonators, fireworks, flares, and military equipment of any kind.

Drugs and controlled substances Narcotics, psychotropic substances, new psychoactive substances, cannabis and cannabis products including CBD, drug precursors, and equipment intended for producing or consuming drugs. This applies regardless of whether the substance is legal in one of the countries on the route.

Dangerous goods Flammable liquids and solids, compressed or liquefied gases, aerosols, oxidising agents, corrosive substances, toxic substances, poisons, pesticides, radioactive material, magnetised material, and any item classified as dangerous goods for air transport.

Loose lithium batteries and power banks Loose lithium batteries, power banks, and devices with damaged or swollen batteries. Airlines restrict these and they may not be carried in checked baggage.

Cash and bearer instruments Banknotes, coins in circulation, cheques, bearer bonds, money orders, prepaid cards, gift cards, and any other instrument payable to the bearer.

Human and animal remains Human remains, ashes, organs, body parts, blood, and biological or medical samples.

Live animals and plants Live animals of any kind, insects, live plants, seeds, bulbs, soil, and cuttings.

Protected species Ivory, rhino horn, coral, tortoiseshell, furs, skins, taxidermy, traditional medicines containing animal parts, and any product covered by the CITES convention.

Counterfeit and stolen goods Counterfeit or replica branded goods, pirated media and software, and any item you do not lawfully own or have the right to send.

Illegal content Child sexual abuse material, material inciting violence or hatred, and any content that is illegal in the country of departure, transit or destination.

Cultural property Antiquities, archaeological objects, and cultural or historical items subject to export restrictions.

Sanctioned and dual-use goods Any item subject to trade sanctions, export controls or dual-use restrictions.

Sealed packages Any package that the Carrier has not been able to open and inspect. A Carrier must refuse a sealed package.

These items are not prohibited, but there are things to know before sending or carrying them.

Medicines Prescription medicines can be carried. The Sender should tell the Carrier who the medicine is for and share the prescription or a doctor's note where there is one — having a document to hand makes things easier for the Carrier if questions are asked at the border. A Carrier may always refuse.

Medicines containing narcotic or psychotropic substances cannot be carried. Medicines requiring refrigeration cannot be carried either, because the right conditions cannot be maintained during a journey.

Tobacco, alcohol and e-cigarettes These can only be carried within the traveller's allowance limits of the destination country. Because those allowances are intended for personal use, goods carried on behalf of another person are often taxable. Check the limits for your route first.

Precious metals, stones and high-value items Gold, jewellery, investment coins and similar items can be carried, but Tezly provides no insurance and pays no compensation if something is lost, stolen or damaged. For anything of significant value, arrange your own insurance or use a professional courier.

Perishable food Meat, dairy, fish, fresh fruit and vegetables, and any food requiring refrigeration should not be sent. The European Union prohibits most meat and dairy products carried in personal luggage from outside the EU.

Identity documents Passports, national identity cards, driving licences and residence permits should not be sent. Ordinary paperwork — contracts, diplomas, notarised documents, commercial papers — is fine.

Items requiring temperature or handling control Anything that must be refrigerated, kept upright, or handled under specific conditions should not be sent, because those conditions cannot be guaranteed on a journey.

Anything you cannot describe accurately If you cannot tell the Carrier exactly what an item is and what it is worth, do not send it.

Tezly does not insure any item and offers no compensation for loss, theft or damage. Before you send anything of significant value, arrange your own insurance or use a professional courier.

Most airlines, and airport security rules in most countries, prohibit passengers from carrying an item on behalf of a person they do not know. Carriers are asked about this at check-in and must answer truthfully.

Carriers are responsible for checking the rules of the airline they are travelling with, and the security rules of every airport on their route.

The list on this page covers items that cannot be carried. Items that are not on the list may still involve customs duty on some routes.

Duty-free allowances for travellers are designed for goods carried for personal use or as a gift. That allowance may not always apply to goods carried on behalf of another person.

Finding out the rules for your route beforehand is the easiest way to avoid surprises at the border. Details are in clause 9 of our Terms of Service.

If you send, request or carry a prohibited item:

• your listing may be removed;
• your account may be suspended or terminated;
• we may report the matter to the competent authorities;
• you may be personally liable for any fine, penalty or legal consequence.

Tezly accepts no responsibility for any item seized, detained or destroyed by an authority, and offers no compensation.
